It is something think about, as I was starting this podcast. Who is this for? It’s not for everyone but it is for someone who might be exactly like you. Parents, entrepreneurs, just women wanting to connect and get the feeling they aren’t alone in this life. I am here to talk about ways you can invest in you. Little things you can do that will make your life better. Nothing is off limits, because I have been working and looking for ways to shift my mind and my behaviors and then the big one, my life to make it into something I can truly be proud of. It hasn’t been easy (read my bio) but every bit of effort I have put into making me better has been worth the investment. I hope it will be for you too.

Episode 1017: Sticking to your commitment

This was an easy “little bit better” life topic for me. Being committed to your goals and dreams are an essential part of success. We all. have ideas but do you have what it takes to get across the finish line? Since my move from the Quad Cities to Des Moines, I have accumulated a few visions. I see myself 40 pounds lighter than the weight I gained since my incident. I can picture my speaking revitalized and to lasso in a few more interesting and driven coaching clients. I don’t want to hear about the economy or the interest in my key topics. I am focused on doing what it takes to move the needle in these areas in my life.

What I’ve noticed is, as I create a routine that gets me where I want to go, is that my desire to get after it doesn’t always keep pace with my big dreams. Sometimes I just don’t feel like working out. Or I don’t want to get dressed for networking connection after networking connection. That is the funny part of all of this. Sometimes you see the vision of what you want to change so clearly but it can be nothing short of challenging to stay the course. The thing is, is that there is no way around it. You hav e to commit the behaviors that will change your life. It feels so good to realize the results of sticking with it. So let’s focus in on commitment. What do you want? And what is standing in your way. Stay focused and the sky is the limit for you.

Episode 1016: Go with the flow

I’m a goal-driven person. Goals are good, and there is nothing like lining through a completed accomplishment. That is what success feels like to me-can you relate? But there is another life-movement that is also important, just as vital as “getting things done,” and that is the FLOW. There is an energy in your life that is downstream. Before my incident I did a lot of things that were good for me but it was a casual thing. I did the workouts, I ate well, I meditated and read self help books with the expectation that things would go well and that things would be peaceful in my life. Then it all flipped upside down. Two months in the hospital, heart surgery, a near death moment and time in rehab. I couldn't look at my circumstances and derive any peace. That’s why I chose this subject. We live in a tumultuous world. We need to feel that bubble of peace and invest in it every day. Episode 1009- My Gratitude Transformation

I really thought about how to discuss gratitude. I researched and researched but it kept coming back to my personal experience with gratitude. After heart surgery and resulting brain injury, I was robbed of what I considered normal and I did not react well. It was all EGO running the show until I really questioned why I had to get up every morning and try so dang hard. It lasted a while- over a year until I was faced with the reality that it was a miracle I didn’t die and it was time for me to choose to live out that miracle every day. So I did, in the form of gratitude. It was truly challenging and it didn’t change right away but the process of noticing the good in my life brought more good in my life. Today, I am excited about getting up and conquering the day. I’m excited about tomorrow. I’m no longer resentful of the massive changes my brain injury brought about. I see my life as a second chance to inspire and make a difference.
